According to Northouse (2016), â€Å"new reporting methods such as crowdsourcing, open-source reporting and pro-am journalism are becoming the focus for more and more news operations in the United States† (p. 92). These reporting methods or digitals bring readers and journalists closer together than ever before (Northouse, 2016). This site invites anyone to contribute photos and video, and some of the content produced by regular citizens ends up airing on CNN programs† (p. 102). I was fairly impressed by this website because in essence it promotes citizen journalism (Northouse, 2016). In communitarian journalism, the readers or community members become active and engaged participants in the gathering and reporting of the news (Land, Fuse, Hornaday, 2014). CNN iReport adapts this approach to journalism by enabling people around the world to share breaking news photos and videos as it happens (Northouse, 2016).
